Weiner Roasts are Good for Politics

Let the Weiner dog stay in office. Why not? Let him stand as a beacon of poor judgement for the Democratic Party and the leadership of the left. Let him remain a prime example of why we cannot vote for irresponsible candidates in 2012. If he stays in office he’ll only make himself look worse and further embarrass the DNC.

So stay in there, Mr. Anthony Weiner, because you’re only a burning reminder of why we don’t want the likes of you in Congress any longer. If you do not resign, we’ll have just another tool to use in our campaigning and advertising for men and women of integrity in office. You are the polar opposite of what we want. As for the Democratic Party allowing him to remain in office, shame on them. How does that action portray an upholding of truth and proper judgment? Of fidelity and honesty? It doesn’t. So let’s vote against them.

What scares me is the level of lying being allowed on the left. And if you can lie about a little or personal thing, who’s to say you’re not going to lie about a bigger or public matter. Lies are good for nobody.

A key principle to hold onto when looking at candidates is this: if you can’t manage your personal and family life, what makes you think you can manage a government? When you see someone single-handedly burning themselves at the stake, don’t re-elect them; use them as examples of what we don’t want in Congress.

One Response to Weiner Roasts are Good for Politics

  1. 猫头鹰 says:

I’m not a big fan of Mr. Weiner, but let’s not pretend that the Democrats hold a monopoly on sex scandals.

Robert Packwood, for instance, was expelled from the Senate in 1992 after it was revealed that he sexually assaulted ten or so former staffers and lobbyist. He was a republican from Oregon.

What about Mark Foley? The conservative House rep who was ousted following allegations that he sent lewd messages to teenaged congressional pages? I hear he came out of the closet after he left politics. Good on him.

Or Newt Gingrich, former House Speaker and now (thankfully) floundering presidential candidate, who executed a rare sex scandal double-whammy by cheating on his second wife with a staffer, all the while investigating President Clinton’s indiscretions with Monica Lewinsky.

Let us not neglect Larry Craig, Mark Sanford, David Vitter, Ed Schrock, Randall Tobias, John Ensign. I could go on, and on, and on. I could even make a drinking game out of it. You take one shot for general hypocrisy(e.g. Mr. Gingrich), two for conservative, self-hating homosexuals(Larry Craig).

And as for his fellow Democrats “allowing” him stay, only Mr. Weiner himself can make the decision to step down. The most his compatriots can do is urge him to relinquish his seat, as quite few already have,:
